*VIDEO* Dimock Residents Tell Binghamton Mayor “Enough Is Enough”

2011 December 6
by Tom Shepstone

Folks in Dimock have had enough.  They are, in fact, declaring “Enough Is Enough” and starting to speak out against the ongoing effort aimed at maligning their community, aided and abetted by a fawning media inclined to believe anything that is said about natural gas producers as long as it happens to be negative.  Things reached a tipping point last night at a Dimock Township meeting where Binghamton mayor Matt Ryan showed up to interfere and — how do you say this politely? –  got his head handed to him on a platter.

Dimock residents have put up with a continuous barrage of insults and hyperbole over the last three years as Josh Fox, Bobbie Kennedy, Jr. and like-minded charlatans have abused them in the name of natural gas obstructionism.  They have watched and listened as professional activists use the power of the press to perpetuate the myth that Dimock water is polluted.  They have tolerated the incessant meddling of others in the affairs of their community.  Last night, however, one meddler, Mayor Ryan of Binghamton, who apparently has trouble running his own city, went just a bit too far — and residents gave him the heave-ho.  See for yourself and note how Ryan tries to intimidate Township officials with direct legal threats:

Residents also spoke out on the absurdity of what has happened to their community as natural gas opponents have latched onto it as a symbol and tool to make their case, weak tough it may be.  There’s little more that needs to said beyond what the people of Dimock themselves said last night, so take a look:

This is far from the end of the story and we’ll have more to report very soon, I expect, so stay tuned.

Maybe if Mayor Matt Ryan were any kind of leader, his city wouldn’t be in such dire straits that he needs to look for revenue streams from outside his city’s and the state’s borders. New York State itself would be in a better financial state if the moratorium had never been instituted or had been lifted with the release of the first SGEIS instead of politicians pandering to those for who NO regulations or restrictions will ever be enough unless they result in a complete and total drilling ban.

To the other 1,400 residents of this great little community – get mad! This is YOUR town! Take Dimock back – Free Dimock from it’s undeserved reputation as a toxic wasteland. The only thing toxic here are those who want to use it for their own agendas.

Mark Ruffalo and Josh Fox should stick to what they know best, Producing fictional theater. These two have no degree in science yet they tell scientist and lab technicians independent of the State DEP and the Federal EPA that their water tests are wrong. They stand there with the Saunters at city hall in NYC and boldly lie about these people not having clean water to drink.

The Environmental Protection Agency EPA , AND PA-DEP, Department of Environmental Protection have both issued lab test results, and press releases, saying the Saunters water is safe to drink as is all on Carter Road in the town of Dimock PA.

Apparently Hollywood is the door to science… or perhaps science fiction !!!

    Water for Dimock PA ?

Pro or Con, for or against natural gas, how is it possible for the mayor of Binghamton NY to make a decision to transport water to Dimock PA for the purpose of making a personal opinion public? Using his office as mayor and our tax dollars as funding our mayor must have known he would take gruff for this poor decision. The recent offer to transport water to a different state from Mayor Matt Ryan could not have been for any other reason then to push his own anti drill agenda into the spotlight once again from his office.

Don’t get me wrong. I am not against people helping people but I can’t fathom his gesture with reason, it’s just not possible and let me explain why. First the water was to be delivered to the 11 families on Carter Road in Dimock Pennsylvania, even though the Environmental Protection Agency and the PA- Department of Environmental Protection both examined and confirmed water testing done on these wells, proved the water to be safe and well within the scope of safe drinking standards for use. These results were known the mayor of Binghamton even has he traveled to a supervisor meeting in the Town of Dimock to present this offer of water free to the residents of Carter Road.

Here is where I have difficulty understanding this, I know Matt Ryan is against NG- drilling and even though I believe this water delivery gesture on his part, was to spotlight his beliefs in the public arena, How could he knowingly drive down the highway and past hundreds of Conklin NY flood victims, possibly Binghamton’s Homeless, our own communities hungry children in NY with a clear conscience. Could not the people suffering great hardships right here in his home city and county benefited from the few hundred dollars each trip with water would cost??? I am sorry, but Dimock PA is now rich with Gas monies and is well enough equipped to take care of their own should they need it but apparently they don’t. And that is why when Matt Ryan showed up with his offer of water the people of Dimock chased him out of the building with jeers and boo’s It is why he was told to keep his nose in NY and stay out of Dimocks business.
