*UPDATE* Domestic Terrorism Advocated by Anti-Gas Activist
Every once in a while the anti-gas crowd do something that it is just stunning in revealing what far too many of them actually think. An article appeared in the Middletown Times Herald-Record yesterday summarizing an interview with New York State DEC Commissioner Joe Martens wherein this former head of the Open Space Institute admitted natural gas development “can be done safely.” It was a very positive article and interesting in its own right, but what was simply astounding was one of the comments.
Here is the comment and it speaks for itself. This is how a Monticello, NY businessman apparently thinks the shale gas debate is best resolved. I wonder how many others think like this?
I’ll bet some of you thought we might be exaggerating when we wrote about the trend toward violence in our Softly, But Not Gently post, but you can see words matter and the subtle encouragement or whispers by one actor leads another to take an even more dramatic stand and, of course, it will inevitably lead to something awful unless people who know better don’t start acting reasonably.
UPDATE I: As if to prove my point, we received this comment on Bill’s most recent post. This commenter, someone who goes by the name of “nodrillinghere” and who is afraid to leave their name, says “You’ll know who I am when you’re meant to know who I am .. and don’t worry, you WILL know who I am when it’s your time.” Can you believe these people? Unfortunately, I can.

by the way, I was down to Wysox PA Tuesday and there is NO devastation!
In fact, I was so impressed by the contrast between there and my hometown in NY that Friday afternoon I took my husband for a ride through Wysox, Towanda and back home via a different route. All we saw were people WORKING, but I guess WORK is a four letter word!
We did see a horrific tractor trailer accident, along RT 12 in Kattelville (Chenango Bridge) NY on our way down and still blocking traffic at 6:30 when we got home. News reports say it happened at 5AM. Thankfully, no one hurt.
Terrorism, Threats and Reaction !
Reading about pipe bombs on gas lines in Oklahoma and then this above statement should be a warning to all industry workers and farmers as well as landowners being drilled on. The term ” enviro – whacko ” is real and the proof is in the writing and past actions of these people. They think they are Urban Hero’s goiing domestic to protect us all from the evils of gas drilling when in fact, They are indoctrinated soldiers of extremist who will not give two hoots about those caught (and caught you will be) and prosecuted under the Terrorist Act in the United States.
Neighbor’s protect neighbors and take this advice, Talk with each other and give each other your phone numbers so if you see a flashlight in a feild, near a barn at night you can call that property owner and check on who might be in the feild or near that building, Use 911 when apropiate do not confront these people unless you absolutely have to. If you do end up confronting them after dialing 911 be specific and loud, STOP WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE !!! if they run let them go, if they have a need to be there they will be able to respond correctly using your name or the landowners, Try to get a vehicle plate number,
Do not use deadly force unless you truly fear for your own safety or your familes.
This is our right to claim the minerals under our land and our Goverment agrees that the extraction is safe and poses no threats to our environment. The actions taking place in NYS and in the USA by the anti’s are a direct result of the fear mongering they have cultivated from those who are easily frightened or just too damn stupid to do independant research on their owm. Be Safe and Be Careful
If making signs, dressing up in goofy costumes, and spewing woeful ignorance could be harnessed as an energy source, we really could stop drilling for natural gas. But until then, I guess we’ll just have to keep those rigs moving.
We have been subject to hate-insignia painted on pro-drilling signs, companies have had equipment and material storage buildings burnt to the ground, I have been witness to violent attacks on my pro-drilling friends, blows thrown by the anti population. I have seen reference made in newspaper commentary to bear arms against those who work in the industry and towards drilling locations. The opposition has been training and advocating for “civil” disobedience and I have witnessed time and again their shouting down anyone who holds a different view from them. During the next few months, while the SGEIS is discussed and subsequently issues and drilling moves ahead in NY, I pray NO ONE gets hurt.
Tom…..thanks for following up on this Times Record piece and the idiotic “terrorist” threat. This guy is most likely a big windbag, maybe fueled by copious cerveza. However, as we go forward, vigilance will be key. Never be intimidated or afraid to defend your life, liberty and property or that of your loved ones.
Any businessman who does this should be boycotted.

I am very pro-drilling and my intent is to be aggresive towards those who would deny or attempt to steal my landowner rights who chose to tresspass on my property with eco-terrorism in mind.
Can you understand my thinking you were an eco-jihadist after you threatened to incinerate people who trespassed against you? I’m beginning to wonder about you!
